Who to vote for?

It seems like the election should be this November. President Bush still has 15 months left in office and all we hear about is this cast of characters vying to become the next president.

president

There’s a ton of opinion to be stated on this subject. However, for now I’ll keep it short and sweet. My choice for president would be Mike Huckabee. I am inline with nearly every position he has taken. He speaks common sense and isn’t some moderate/left candidate with an ‘R’ beside his name. The problem is he’s not well known and will not receive the financial backing to push him to the top. The republican party wants a moderate to go up against Hillary so they have a fighting chance to beat her. I predict it will be Rudy or Mitt Romney. A lot of people say there isn’t a real conservative in the bunch but I disagree. Mike Huckabee is the one for true conservative republicans. That’s not to say I won’t vote for whoever wins the nomination. I will be casting my vote against Hillary.

I searched around on the internet to find something I thought I would like. I came across this theme. I thought it looked pretty sleek so I modified it to fit what I wanted on my blog. I deleted some things I didn’t need and tried to personalize it a little. Overall, I’m pleased with it. Once Jayme gets me a logo for the header I’ll be done. Let me know what you think of it.

The vacation is almost over. We leave tomorrow to head back to Raleigh. It’s about 11pm here on the west coast and I’m uploading some pictures. They’re all lumped into one category since I haven’t had a chance to organize them. We stayed at Harrahs’ in Lake Tahoe and visited Yosemite National Park and San Francisco. It was a busy, but very fun time.

iPod interface

I got an iPod nano for Christmas last year. I don’t run or walk much so most of the time I listen to it on my way to and from work. About 5 or 6 months ago I stopped at Target and bought an FM transmitter so I could play it through my car stereo. I found out from the get go that this was going to suck. It had way too much static and a lot of the music and vocals was distorted.

Thanks to Max I visited www.crutchfield.com where I found my solution. It is the USA SPEC iPod Interface. It connects directly to my Ford factory radio. This device gives the best sound quality available while charging the iPod at the same time. It comes with a nice set of directions for installation and a mastersheet for your entire car in case you ever need to get to the front speakers or rear speakers. If you have the same problem as I did, don’t hesitate to make this purchase. There’s no other way to listen to digital music through your iPod.

I don’t know how many of you have seen these stickers on vehicles each day traveling down I-40. I have seen my share. It is beginning to be like those stupid oval stickers like OBX or TI or WLK. I mean the last time I checked this is North Carolina. I believe that is the symbol for South Carolina. Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t really get it. If you miss South Carolina that much do me a favor and take your (insert any top of the line SUV) and go back. I promise no one will miss you or your dumb sticker.

Slicing Designs

Jayme has gotten me to learn some CSS and XHTML. His slicemydesign business is doing pretty good and he needed some help. It’s a pretty good opportunity to learn something new that could help me get a different job someday if that’s what I desire. The extra income is great. Although, the downside is I have to spend most of the night when I get home working on code. The extra money has helped me pay off some older debts. My Martin guitar is paid for and I’ll have my car paid off by the end of the year. That is something to be excited about.

Christian Hoops Champs

For the third time in four years we won the tournament championship for the church league in Four Oaks. It was a trying season at times. We added four new players and all of us had never played together before. We had to figure out who was going to do what. Several nights there were only five players present. We ended up losing five regular season games including one we had to forfeit. Kenly FWB church had swept us during the regular season and we met them in the championship game. We came out a little sluggish but quickly caught fire thanks to Jayme and John. Lots of three pointers and pretty good defense gave us a huge lead near twenty points. We never gave up the lead although they came back and cut it to a one point lead. John nailed a huge three late in the game and a key deflection by yours truly sealed their fate. It was a sweet victory and a great way to end the season. Congrats to all the team an awesome season.

Bush Bumper Stickers

Well I was on my way home today and noticed a bumper sticker I had never seen before. It said “Never Thought I’d Miss Nixon.” To make matters worse the vehicle had an NCSU sticker too. I got to thinking about some of the Anti-Bush stickers I had seen. I went on the web to compile some of my favorite ones. People come up with some of the craziest things. I thought they were quite hilarious.

Tom O’Brien

I know this is old news. I thought since the last article was called “Looking for a New Coach” that I needed to follow that up before I posted anything else. So here you have it. Tom O’Brien will be the next football coach at NC State. He coach at Boston College for a number of years posting 8, 9 and 10 win seasons. He was in the armed forces. State fans will be looking for some of that discipline in the years to come. I guess overall it was a good choice considering the options out there. Let there be no doubt he will have the full support of the Wolfpack nation behind him. But I also hope he has seen what can happen in Raleigh when the results are bad. Good luck Tom.
